Measures to Assist the Elderly in Managing Stress During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Elderly individuals, especially those living alone or with cognitive impairment/dementia, may experience anxiety, anger, stress, restlessness, isolation, or excessive suspicion during the pandemic or quarantine. They should receive psychological support through informal networks such as family and mental health professionals. This includes providing simple, factual information about what is happening and clear instructions on how to reduce the risk of infection, using language that is easily understood by both those with and without cognitive impairment. This information should be repeated as needed.
